About Jon Wayne Taylor

He is a U.S. Army veteran with multiple combat deployments who served as medic, military police and military medical advisor. Jon's provided care and taught Tactical Combat Casualty Care to military and police units around the world — work he continues today as a volunteer with the Team 5 Medical Foundation. Jon is a former police officer and former firefighter and spent decades as an EMT and combat medic.

Jon specializes in handgun hunting, revolvers, hunting optics, and long-term gear evaluation. His reviews are field reviews: guns and gear are carried, hunted with, and shot until something either proves itself or fails, and the failure goes in the copy. He has hunted big game with revolvers and single-shot handguns across the United States and the African continent.

His byline covers Colt's revolver revival, the full Taurus Raging Hunter line, the SIG Sauer Cross rifle family, everything Thompson Center, and cartridge work from the 458 HAMR to the 25KPC. These days, Jon runs an insurance provider serving the firearms and ammunition manufacturing, major retailer, and distribution industry, which gives his industry reporting a vantage point almost nobody else in the field has. He is a lifelong resident of the Texas Hill Country.
